This position resides at Eglin AFB, Florida, and supports the Air Force Research Laboratory Munitions Directorate, Strategic Planning Branch (AFRL/RWPB) in its science and technology planning process. The successful candidate shall advise and assist in developing potential materiel solutions (Weapon Concepts) and associated technical challenges, interfacing with the Deputy Capability Leads (DCLs) for Air Superiority, Global Precision Attack, and Special Operations. Additionally, the successful candidate shall support as needed in a secondary role the Capability Area Leads (CALs), Technical Advisor, and Chief of the Strategic Planning Branch, on program planning strategies and requirements/concept trades requiring further analysis or modeling and simulation. The successful candidate shall assist the DCL in decomposing Major Command operational gaps into actionable Science and Technology goals, objectives and attributes to identify needed future weapon technology development in assigned capability areas. The successful candidate shall advise and assist in development, analysis, maintenance, and quality control of Capability Area roadmaps and resource estimates. The successful candidate shall advise and assist in maintaining and displaying AFRL/RWPB budget/POM positions and proposals, review execution plans, develop and document transition schedules and plans, where appropriate, and assist with technology readiness assessments. The successful candidate shall prepare briefings for presentation to and by senior government officials and attend technical and management working meetings to assist military/government program leaders.
It is anticipated that 1 business trip will be required annually.
A bachelors degree in a technical field plus 10 years of experience, or a masters degree in a technical field plus3-10 years of experience, or a Ph.D. in a technical field plus 5 years of relevant experience is required.
In-depth knowledge of and experience with problem decomposition, requirements allocation, attributes, concepts, roadmaps, modeling/simulation and analysis is required. Familiarity and experience with conventional weapon system acquisition programs is highly desired. Experience with a DoD Major Command requirements process is highly desired. Applicants must have highly developed interpersonal skills to interact with senior levels of government and senior management of industry prime contractors. Experience using MS Office applications is highly desired. Applicants must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
This position require that candidates possess a SECRET current security clearance in order to access classified information. Inability to maintain a SECRET security clearance will result in a candidate being ineligible for these positions.
