Job Title: Career/Volunteer Coordinator

Work Hours: 18 hours, days/time are flexible however Tuesday 10-1130 and Saturdays once a month are not negotiable

Primary Job Function:

The position reports directly to the Director of Career and Volunteer Services as well as the Director of Community Integration. The primary responsibility is to assist with department needs and meet objectives of the departments to maintain efficiency and effectiveness. In addition, the Career/Volunteer Coordinator will need to be able to maintain the functions of the departments when the Director of the department is unavailable.

Community volunteer sites/programs


  • Bachelor's Degree in Counseling, Child Development, Career Counseling, Psychology or related field. Master's degree preferred

  • Interested in working with young adults 18-28 in a residential capacity

Experience advising/counseling students from various backgrounds and interests

  • Resourceful and creative problem solver with the ability to work in real time

  • Excellent motivational, organizational, & time management skills

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to think creatively and develop, design or create new applications, ideas, relationships and/or systems

Proficient in Microsoft Office and Gmail

Ability and willingness to demonstrate empathy and concern with a high risk population

CA Driver's license and clean driving record

  • Cash handling experience preferred. Must be willing and able to drive a company vehicle when needed

Must pass TB test

  • Willingness to attend in house DBT Training and offer skills use to young adults as needed

Willing to become CPR/First Aid Certified

Daily Duties:

Career and Volunteer Services Responsibilities

  • Schedule 1:1 appointments working on departmental and individual goals and needs

  • Instruct and support individuals in career development techniques such as job search, application strategies, resume writing and critique, and interview skills

  • Evaluate participants abilities, interests, and personality characteristics using assessments, previous treatment records, and in-office activities

  • Support participants in creating discharge plans

  • Assist participants with researching and reaching out to volunteer sites

  • Schedule and track work/volunteer commitments, including pre-work/volunteer requirements. Maintain recurrences and updates as needed.

  • Prepare needed materials and attend monthly service outings for all OPI and Intensive Participants

Send reminder and follow up emails/phone calls to participants

Document all check-ins, meetings and scheduled appointments with Participants on BestNotes

  • Facilitate Career Workshop.Instruct an 8 week career skills building workshop in small classroom setting and review/correct assignments. Stay up-to-date on current career tool trends and update workshop as needed. Maintain files, rubrics, and other documentation.

Notify all staff of Participants' work and volunteer schedule, modify when needed

  • Notify Director of Career and Volunteer Services and administration team of any issues, concerns, and/or any discrepancies

  • Attend weekly treatment team meetings, in-services/trainings, administration meetings, and participant team meetings as determined by Director

  • Willingness to join parent meetings and calls as advised by Director of Extracurricular Activities
